Pakistan-Backed Candidates Sweeps ACC Board Elections

In a significant development, a Pakistan-backed panel has emerged victorious in the recent Asian Cricket Council (ACC) board elections, securing all three director positions against the India-backed group. The elections took place during the ACC Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Bangkok. The winning panel, headed by ACC President Mohsin Naqvi, comprised representatives from Qatar, Singapore, and the Maldives, each securing their respective seats on the board.

This marks the first time since the ACC's inception that a Pakistan-backed panel has achieved such a sweeping victory. India was represented at the AGM by Rajeev Shukla. The outcome is seen as a major achievement for Naqvi and an indication of Pakistan's growing influence within the continental cricket body. The AGM also focused on reviewing preparations for the upcoming Asia Cup in Bangladesh, which has been proposed to be held in Sylhet, Mirpur, and Chattogram.

Additionally, discussions were held regarding the ACC's annual budget and preparations for the Women's Asia Cup, set to be held in Dubai.
