Ozon was the big winner from Wildberries’ ruin. Five weeks later, it’s the target of Ukraine’s drone attacks.

Ozon, Russia's second-largest e-commerce platform, suffered extensive damage from Ukrainian drone attacks after the Ukrainian military targeted Wildberries' warehouses. Over three days, Ukrainian forces struck 233,000 square meters of Ozon's storage space, affecting about 6% of the company's total warehouse space. The strikes resulted in fires, injuries, and a 28% drop in Ozon's shares on the Moscow Exchange.

Wildberries, meanwhile, faced the loss of up to 40% of its warehouse space and hundreds of billions of rubles in total losses. Ukraine's Defense Ministry labeled the attacks as "long-range sanctions" aimed at disrupting the enemy's logistics and negatively impacting the Russian economy. Russian President Vladimir Putin vowed a response to the Ukrainian strikes, targeting sensitive economic sectors.

Ukrainian forces targeted Wildberries five weeks after launching attacks on Wildberries' warehouses. Wildberries' losses and the economic impact have prompted the Finance Ministry to draw up a support plan for the company and its sellers, but it remains unclear if the same support will be provided to Ozon and its affected sellers.
