Ottawa Redblacks name Jim Popp as a senior football adviser

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Redblacks have appointed Jim Popp as a senior football adviser, following the dismissal of vice-president of football operations Shawn Burke. Popp, a veteran CFL executive, has spent 28 seasons in the league, including 21 as the Montreal Alouettes' general manager. He has been part of five Grey Cup-winning teams and most recently served as the Toronto Argonauts' general manager from 2017 to 2019.

The Redblacks' CEO, Mark Goudie, expressed that Popp's appointment is necessary to improve the team and bring an experienced and independent football perspective. Ryan Dinwiddie, the head coach and general manager of the Ottawa Redblacks, praised Popp's accomplishments and network in the CFL, looking forward to collaborating with him to build the team. Popp's role with the Redblacks is advisory for the remainder of the 2026 season.
