NISO, NBET Move to Improve Efficiency in Power Market

The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET) are working together to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and attractiveness of Nigeria's electricity market for investors. Bello Mohammed, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NISO, explained that both organizations share a common goal of providing stable and reliable electricity supply to Nigerians.

NISO focuses on managing the service aspect of the market, while NBET handles the energy aspect. Mohammed emphasized that, historically, NISO and NBET have worked closely together, and the responsibility now is to strengthen this collaboration under new leadership. Dr. Akinola Odeyemi, the Managing Director of NBET, visited NISO following his appointment to strengthen relationships with sister agencies and explore areas for closer collaboration.

Odeyemi said his visit was to discuss further collaboration on market settlement, revenue alliance, coordination, and overall strategies to improve the electricity market.
