Navi Mumbai Opens 10-Bed De-Addiction Centre To Provide Medical And Psychological Support For Addiction Recovery

A new 10-bed de-addiction and rehabilitation centre, jointly established by Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate and Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday. The centre, part of the 'Drug-Free Navi Mumbai' campaign, offers integrated medical and psychological treatment for individuals battling drug and other forms of addiction.

The facility provides medical treatment, psychotherapy, counselling, yoga, meditation, and exercise under one roof, aiming to help patients overcome addiction and support their rehabilitation and reintegration into society. It will have experienced psychiatrists, psychologists, counsellors, nurses, ward boys, and security personnel, overseen by an experienced manager with regular staff training and supervision.

Patients will undergo medical evaluation, receive medication under doctors' supervision, and undergo psychotherapy and counselling to address mental health issues like fear, depression, stress, and negative thoughts. The centre will foster a supportive and positive environment during treatment.

To promote mental well-being and physical fitness, facilities such as carrom, chess, yoga, meditation, and exercise have been provided. Navi Mumbai Police have been combining narcotics enforcement with awareness and rehabilitation initiatives, including the 'Campus Connect' program to reach out to students and young people about substance abuse dangers.

The new centre strengthens Navi Mumbai's rehabilitation infrastructure by uniting police, municipal authorities, medical professionals, social organizations, and citizens in the effort to make Navi Mumbai drug-free. Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe expressed this vision.
