Mumbai Weather Update: Light To Moderate Rain, Thundershowers Forecast; AQI Remains 'Good'

Mumbai began its Monday with light drizzling, overcast skies and gusty winds as the monsoon conditions persisted. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted moderate rainfall and isolated thundershowers throughout the day, though no rain alert was issued for the city. The sky remained mostly cloudy with brief intervals of light to moderate rain in the city and its suburbs.

According to the IMD, Mumbai and its suburbs would generally stay cloudy with light to moderate rain at multiple locations. Intense rainfall was not expected, but certain areas might experience moderate to heavy showers along with gusty winds. Wind speeds were anticipated to range between 40 and 50 kmph, with gusts potentially peaking at 50–60 kmph during heavy rain episodes. The highest temperature for the day was expected to hover around 31°C, while the lowest temperature recorded in the early hours of Monday was 27°C.

Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region had faced moderate to heavy rain during the first days of August. The meteorological department forecasted light to moderate rainfall across the city for the week, with monsoon conditions remaining active.

On the other hand, Mumbai's air quality remained in the 'Good' range on Monday morning. The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) value was recorded at 33, which falls under the 'Good' category. The AQI scale ranges from 0 to 500, where figures between 0 and 50 are classified as 'Good', 51 to 100 as 'Moderate', 101 to 200 as 'Poor', 201 to 300 as 'Unhealthy', and above 300 as 'Severe'.

The city is predicted to experience wet and windy conditions due to the expected moderate rain and thundershowers. However, with no rain alert issued for Mumbai, residents can expect generally manageable monsoon conditions during the week.
