The BMC has directed MMRDA, MHADA, SRA, Railways, PWD, and the Mumbai Port Authority to ensure compliance from contractors working under their purview. Industry bodies like CREDAI, NAREDCO, and PEATA have been asked to ensure compliance among their members.
Additionally, the BMC is expanding the processing capacity to handle 2,000 tonnes of C&D waste per day across Mumbai and its suburbs. The city generates nearly 8,000 metric tonnes of construction and demolition waste daily, equivalent to its daily municipal solid waste generation.
