Local Mobile Phone Assembly Jumps 102% in July, Meeting 97% of Demand

Mobile phone assembly in Pakistan experienced a significant surge in July 2026, with production increasing by 102% compared to the previous month, according to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). The overall rise in local manufacturing and assembly of mobile phones amounted to 9% year over year, reaching 3.90 million units.

This growth can be attributed to a rebound in consumer demand after purchases were postponed in anticipation of the FY27 budget, as reported by Topline Research. However, the market declined by 5% year over year during the first seven months of the year, with production standing at 17.00 million units, compared to 17.83 million units in the same period last year.

Mobile phone imports in Pakistan saw a steep decline, falling by 35% year over year and 83% month over month to 0.11 million units in July 2026. Consequently, locally manufactured and assembled phones managed to meet 97% of Pakistan's mobile phone demand, up from 75% in May 2026. For the first seven months of 2026, local production accounted for 86% of total mobile phone demand.

Throughout July 2026, the country's mobile phone market recorded a total of 4.01 million units, marking a 7% year over year growth in comparison to July 2025.
