LASU resolves results crisis, assures eligible students of graduation

Lagos State University (LASU) has put an end to the dispute over the alleged delay in publishing the results of certain graduating students from the Department of English, assuring those who are eligible that they will graduate concurrently with their peers. This assurance was provided in a statement released on the university's official social media channels on Sunday, August 23, 2026, following an internal investigation into the reported issues.

The Department of English was reported to have submitted all the remaining results by the same date, according to the institution. The LASU management clarified that students who had fulfilled all the academic and administrative prerequisites for graduation would be permitted to receive their diplomas alongside other students from the 2025/2026 academic year.

The university also dispelled the notion that some eligible students might be forced to extend their studies by another year due to the issue. Any student whose results are still outstanding after this action would still need to meet the remaining graduation requirements, as advised by the institution. The clarification came in response to concerns circulating on social media about final-year students in the English Department facing uncertainty regarding their graduation due to allegedly missing results.

Some of these students expressed anxiety that the delay in publishing their results could jeopardize their graduation plans and potentially force them to remain at the university for an extra academic year. However, LASU stood firm in its commitment to ensuring that students who had met all graduation requirements would not be unduly delayed in completing their studies.
