Kanter Freedom ejected from WNBA game over player row

Enes Kanter Freedom, a former NBA player, was ejected from a recent Women's NBA game between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever. The incident occurred after Freedom became involved in a verbal altercation with Sky guard Natasha Cloud during a timeout. Freedom, wearing a T-shirt that read "WOMAN noun. Adult human female," stood up and approached the court, which prompted security and other Sky players to intervene. He was escorted from the arena by police officers.

Freedom later expressed his frustration on social media, stating that he was kicked out of a WNBA game for supporting women. Natasha Cloud, on the other hand, responded on Threads, affirming her support for transgender individuals and stating that they belong and are loved.

Sky head coach Tyler Marsh emphasized the importance of enjoying the basketball and the league's overall quality. He questioned why fans would attend a game if they did not want to appreciate the players' skills. The WNBA, governed by a collective bargaining agreement, requires that only players classified as women are eligible to compete.

Despite no transgender athletes currently participating in the league, there has been ongoing debate in the US, particularly following comments made by Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham regarding the current rules.
