Johor secures RM5 billion in potential investment from Singapore working visit across high-tech sectors

Johor has garnered over RM5 billion (S$1.57 billion) in potential investment during a working visit to Singapore, with interest spanning high-speed optics, health technology, and semiconductor manufacturing. Menteri Besar Dato’ Onn Hafiz Ghazi highlighted these sectors as crucial not only for capital inflows but also for the technology, expertise, and employment they bring to the state.

The announcement underscores growing investor confidence in Johor as a regional investment destination, capitalizing on the momentum of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ). A recurring theme during investor meetings with Singapore was workforce readiness – investors are evaluating infrastructure alongside the state's ability to supply skilled workers.

Johor's focus on the Johor Talent Development Council (JTDC) has reinforced this strategy, ensuring that workers are equipped for the roles created by the incoming investment. The Johor Investment Malaysia Facilitation Centre (IMFC-J) will aid in expediting investment facilitation for incoming investors.
