Jeffries, who could become House speaker if Democrats retake power, urged a shift from the Republican party's "my-way-or-the-highway" approach, which he says has failed the American people. Although Kushner does not hold a formal position in the White House, he has maintained a relationship with Jeffries from their time in the first Trump administration, serving as an envoy, particularly working on foreign diplomatic missions.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, a close ally of Trump, dismissed the meeting as unimportant, stating that he does not expect Kushner's involvement in the administration to be significant.
