iOS 27 beta 7 now available as Apple tests major Siri AI upgrade

Apple has made the seventh iOS 27 beta available for developers to test before its September release. This beta, iOS 27 beta 7, is part of Apple's summer development cycle. To access the beta, developers enrolled in the Apple Developer Program must navigate to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates and select the iOS 27 Developer Beta. The final public beta 5 is expected to be released soon.

With this beta, Apple is showcasing significant advancements in AI for its iOS platform. The most notable addition is Siri AI, a revamped virtual assistant built on Apple Intelligence and new Apple Foundation Models. Siri AI offers more natural conversations, contextual understanding, broader knowledge, screen awareness, and enhanced app interactions.

On iPhones, Siri AI will feature a new visual interface linked to the Dynamic Island and a dedicated Siri app for reviewing past conversations across devices. Apple is also introducing Visual Intelligence, which will enhance the Camera app and Camera Control on iPhone with visual context.

Beyond Siri and Apple Intelligence, iOS 27 brings AI enhancements to various system apps. These include AI-powered features for Photos, Safari, Passwords, Mail, Messages, Phone, Shortcuts, Home, and more. Apple also refined its Liquid Glass design, added a transparency slider for system UI, and improved performance for app launches, Photos loading, Camera access in Low Power Mode, AirDrop transfers, and Wi-Fi-to-cellular transitions.

Other iPhone-specific improvements in this beta include Photos keywords and star ratings, customizable slideshows, smoother Camera behavior, continuous sending in Messages, dual-capture functionality in FaceTime, customizable EQ for AirPods, new recovery options, simplified Apple Pay card switching, and AI-generated wallpaper creation.

As always, beta software may contain bugs, reduced battery life, app compatibility issues, and other imperfections. Users are advised to expect these challenges while testing iOS 27 beta 7.
