InvIT investor base rises 17% in June quarter, distributions up 15%
Distributions to unitholders rose 15 per cent on-year to ₹5,923 crore in the June quarter
India's Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT) sector saw a 17 percent rise in its investor base to 6.53 lakh in the June quarter, alongside a 15 percent increase in distributions to unitholders compared to the previous year. According to the Bharat InvITs Association (BIA), distributions amounted to ₹5,923 crore in Q1 FY27, up from ₹5,153 crore in the same period last year.
Cumulative distributions by the sector since its inception surpassed ₹97,000 crore during the quarter. Assets under management grew to ₹7.3 lakh crore, a 13.7 percent increase from ₹6.42 lakh crore a year earlier. Market capitalisation stood at ₹2.97 lakh crore, with equity valued at ₹1.98 lakh crore. BIA CEO NS Venkatesh attributed the growth in distributions to the sector's consistent cash flows and long-term value creation for unitholders.
He noted that the increase in participation from retail investors is particularly encouraging, demonstrating a growing understanding and acceptance of InvITs as an investment option. The InvIT sector consists of 28 registered business trusts operating in various sectors such as roads, power, telecom, pipelines, renewable energy, and logistics.
