Inmarsat Maritime And Sk Telink Deepen Strategic Partnership To Accelerate Nexuswave Adoption In South Korea

Inmarsat Maritime, a subsidiary of Viasat, and SK telink, a prominent South Korean telecommunications provider, have recently formalized a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the adoption of NexusWave services in the South Korean shipping industry. NexusWave represents the next generation of connectivity capabilities designed to enhance operational efficiency, resilience, and crew welfare for shipowners.

The agreement, which builds upon a strategic relationship that began in 2007, covers NexusWave implementation across various vessel types operated by South Korean shipping companies, including car carriers, container ships, and VLCCs. These include major players such as HMM, SINOKOR, and others.

By combining Inmarsat Maritime's global network, maritime expertise, and managed service model with SK telink's extensive market presence and customer relationships, the partners aim to expedite digital transformation within the South Korean maritime sector. As vessel operations become increasingly reliant on data-driven processes, reliable and resilient connectivity has emerged as a critical enabler for business performance.

NexusWave's capabilities allow it to manage the availability of individual network underlays according to local requirements while maintaining connectivity with the bonded service. Moreover, the integration of the ViaSat-3 service is expected to substantially enhance capacity in the region, delivering improved performance, capacity, and flexibility for customers navigating some of the world's busiest maritime routes.
