Indian expat family in UAE mourns daughter, 17, killed in Abu Dhabi car crash

Abu Dhabi: An Indian family living in the UAE is heartbroken after their 17-year-old daughter, Nabanipa Sinha, lost her life in a car accident on August 13. The tragic incident also left her 20-year-old brother, Deeptanshu, and his friend critically injured. Nabanipa, who had just finished her grade 12 and was set to begin university, has been described by her family as the light of their lives.

Her mother, Aatreyee Sinha, told Gulf News that the family had been devastated by the loss, with Deeptanshu recovering physically but still dealing with the emotional trauma of the accident. Deeptanshu, a second-year engineering student in the US, has been shifted to a step-down ICU and is scheduled for further surgeries. Niranjan, the 20-year-old friend who was driving, remains in the ICU with critical head injuries.

Nabanipa's father, Diganta Sinha, called her the pride and motivation behind their family, while her mother remembered her as pure, straightforward, and hardworking. Nabanipa's funeral was held in Dubai on August 18.
