Immigration officer dead, police officer critically injured in fatal crash at Assin Fosu

A fatal accident occurred at Assin Fosu in the Central Region of Ghana, resulting in the death of a Ghana Immigration Service officer and the critical injury of a police officer. The victim, who was the pillion passenger of a motorbike, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The police officer, who was the rider, suffered severe fractures to his arms and legs and is currently in critical condition.

Eyewitnesses reported that the motorbike was traveling at high speeds on an empty highway when it lost control and crashed into a stairwell of a store near the Assin Fosu town market. The deceased officer was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Both victims were taken to St. Francis Xavier Hospital for emergency treatment.

The surviving officer remains in intensive care. The Central North Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department has arrived at the scene, impounded the damaged motorcycle for investigation, and launched an inquiry into the cause of the crash. The deceased officer's body has been kept at the hospital's morgue awaiting autopsy.
