I asked ChatGPT how much my box of forgotten old tech was worth — I ended up selling it for $130

My attic houses a small collection of obsolete technology. Over time, I've let these items pile up in boxes, despite rarely using them. Recently, I scanned a box containing an old Nintendo Wii, two games, an older Kindle, and various DVDs. I asked ChatGPT to identify the items, assess their potential resale value, and check recent eBay sales.

ChatGPT quickly recognized the Wii and the games, including Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2. It also identified the DVDs by their spines but noted that most used movies have little resale value. The Kindle turned out to be a first-generation Kindle Fire, which could sell for about $15 to $20. The Wii alone could fetch around $40, with complete packages commanding more.

ChatGPT estimated the entire box could sell for $115 to $135, depending on condition, selling fees, and whether buyers made lower offers. After a couple of days of selling, I was able to get $130 for the lot. This experiment proved that ChatGPT can identify objects, assess their value, and help determine what to do with them.
