I am a software developer with two and a half years of experience in Java, Springboot, MySQL, and Hibernate. My work involves creating REST APIs and writing SQL queries for a SaaS platform that automates schools and universities. However, I have a desire to build more substantial, real-world applications that can solve genuine problems.
I believe the future lies in AI combined with backend systems, so I am dedicating six months to enhance my knowledge in this area. My plan consists of reading three books: "Designing Data-Intensive Applications" to understand how large systems operate, "Designing Machine Learning Systems" to learn how to deploy ML, and "AI Engineering" to grasp how to construct applications using AI.
In addition to studying, I will work on side projects, write about my experiences, and share my learnings, even if they are imperfect. My next step involves developing an AI-powered product, but I am not ready to disclose it yet. I need to validate the idea first. When I unveil the concept in my upcoming post, I plan to share a Java developer's journey of learning AI from scratch, including real projects, not just tutorials, as well as the honest struggles and victories. Together, we can build something real.
