Gurugram issues work from home advisory as heavy rain leads to waterlogging in many areas

The Gurugram authorities have advised government and private sector employees to work from home on August 25 due to heavy rainfall, waterlogging, and severe traffic congestion in the city. Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh issued the advisory following waterlogging and prolonged traffic jams in several parts of the city on Monday after heavy rain.

Schools are also recommended to conduct classes online to prevent inconvenience to students and staff. The advisory is currently for August 25, but may be extended based on weather conditions and the ground situation. The rain provided relief from the recent intense heat but disrupted daily life across Gurugram and parts of the Delhi-NCR region.

Commuters faced hours of delays on roads, with many arriving late for work. Waterlogging was particularly severe in areas. The India Meteorological Department expects more heavy rain in the coming days. Climate change is cited as a factor behind Delhi's erratic rainfall patterns this monsoon, with intense showers followed by prolonged dry spells.
