Fish, fur and feathers: Animals galore at The Kallang’s Good Pet Fair

Cats, birds, guinea pigs, fish and even hissing cockroaches were featured at the two-day event.

On Saturday and Sunday, August 22-23, The Kallang's Good Pet Fair – Kampong Edition brought an array of animals to the 888-meter-long Great Eastern Promenade encircling the National Stadium. The event, organized by The Kallang Group and Good Fairs, featured over 100 vendors and animal welfare groups, providing a space for pet owners and their furry, feathered, or scaly companions to connect and enjoy shared spaces.

Macaws soared through the air and cats and dogs strolled around the sheltered running track, while joggers took a back seat. Owners could find portable fans for their heat-sensitive furkids as they browsed through stalls selling pet products, ranging from treats to accessories.

The fair showcased a variety of pets - from the exotic to the unconventional. Freedom Flyer, a local parrot enthusiast group, held twice-daily free-flying demonstrations with their colorful macaws. Tiny Kingdom, a nature education and experience center, offered visitors the chance to interact with ants, leaf insects, and Madagascar hissing cockroaches. Guppy Club Singapore displayed a variety of guppies, part of Guppy Passion, a competition with 12 show categories.

At the Gallop Stable booth, visitors could learn to interact with ponies and even groom, ride, and feed them. On August 23, the event set a new record in the Singapore Book of Records, with 146 Shetland sheepdogs present, ranging in age from seven months to 15 years old.
