Finance minister discusses tech, infrastructure cooperation with AIIB

On August 24, South Korea's Finance Minister Koo Yun-cheol met with AIIB President Zou Jiayi in Seoul to explore opportunities for collaboration in technology and infrastructure projects, according to the Ministry of Finance and Economy. This marked Zou's inaugural visit to an advanced donor nation in Asia since assuming his role in January.

Koo highlighted that the AIIB has evolved into one of the world's leading multilateral development banks, reflecting its growing significance. The AIIB's membership now totals 111 countries, a substantial increase from 57 in 2016. Zou acknowledged that South Korea's contributions have played a crucial role in the bank's expansion, expressing appreciation for the ongoing support from Asia's fourth-largest economy.

In response, Koo indicated that leveraging South Korea's technological prowess alongside the AIIB's financial resources could facilitate the implementation of development projects in the region. Zou pledged to intensify cooperation with South Korea, focusing on technology-driven infrastructure initiatives and personnel exchanges, as reported by the finance ministry.
