Euroleague Basketball SuperCup to make Abu Dhabi debut in September

Abu Dhabi is set to host the inaugural Euroleague Basketball SuperCup, a two-day tournament featuring four European basketball powerhouses from September 18-19. The event, organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Euroleague Basketball, will debut on the Yas Island's Etihad Arena, marking the beginning of Europe's club basketball season.

Four top-tier clubs, Olympiacos Piraeus, Fenerbahce Istanbul, Real Madrid, and Dubai Basketball, will compete in a knockout format, with the first two games on September 18 and the finals on September 19. Local fans will have the opportunity to witness European elite clubs compete on home turf. The SuperCup aims to capitalize on Abu Dhabi's burgeoning sports scene, following the success of the EuroLeague Final Four, and will bolster the city's calendar of international events.

DCT Abu Dhabi's Director General, Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, emphasized how the tournament aligns with the emirate's ambition to host major sporting spectacles and generate economic benefits for local businesses and visitors. Euroleague Basketball's President, Dejan Bodiroga, and CEO, Chus Bueno, praised Abu Dhabi's growing commitment to basketball and the event's potential to attract global audiences.
