Emirati women play key role in preserving UAE’s cultural heritage

Emirati women continue to play a crucial role in safeguarding the UAE's cultural heritage and sharing its history with younger generations, as reported by two Emirati women working at Al Ain Museum. Shaikha Al Blooshi, Visitor Experience Supervisor, emphasized that the museum serves a purpose beyond being a cultural attraction; it offers a platform to convey the story of the community and its surroundings, bringing Al Ain’s history and heritage closer to visitors.

She highlighted that Emirati women and young women at the museum actively contribute by sharing their knowledge, experience, and perspectives in enhancing the visitor experience. This contribution aligns with this year's Emirati Women's Day theme, 'Hand in Hand, We Celebrate 50 Years,' underscoring the significant contributions of Emirati women in preserving the cultural heritage.

Dr Khawla Al Marri, Education and Community Section Head at Al Ain Museum, added that museums offer more than just knowledge sharing; they can create immersive experiences that foster a sense of belonging and confidence among younger generations. She stressed the importance of providing women opportunities to actively participate in shaping their own history and cultural narratives.

Al Marri stressed that empowering women in museums involves creating spaces for them to actively contribute in preserving and presenting cultural heritage. She further emphasized that the UAE's heritage should not merely be viewed as a relic of the past but as a wellspring of inspiration for future generations.
