DSS, Other Security Forces Neutralise Two Suspected Kidnappers, Rescue Abducted Man In Imo

The Department of State Services (DSS), joined by other security forces and local vigilantes, successfully rescued a 29-year-old man who was abducted by suspected kidnappers in Imo State's Orlu Local Government Area. The victim was taken from Afor-Ogidi Market in Isiala Amaifeke Community on Tuesday night, after he returned home from the International Market in Umuna, Orlu.

Local security sources reported that the attackers, wielding assault rifles and riding on two motorcycles, intercepted the victim's vehicle, seized him, and transported him to an unknown location. Subsequently, the kidnappers made contact with the victim's family, demanding a ransom of N15 million for his release.

However, on Thursday morning, security operatives launched a coordinated intelligence-led operation in Ihioma Community, Orlu LGA, which led to the victim's rescue. The operation also resulted in the elimination of two suspected members of the kidnapping syndicate. Additionally, two high-calibre weapons and ammunition were seized during the mission.

The rescued individual was subsequently secured by the security forces and reunited with his family. The security source emphasized that the operation is part of a series of coordinated efforts by various security agencies to tackle criminal activities, dismantle kidnapping networks, and prevent Nigeria from becoming a safe haven for perpetrators of violent crime.
