On Monday, these concerns eased slightly, but the indices remained near recent highs. The yield on 10-year US Treasuries fell 4 basis points to 4.71%, while the yield on 30-year bonds decreased to 5.24%.

Initial focus on Monday centered on US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who announced new sanctions against Iran and its allies during a press conference, though he remained largely vague. The US had previously threatened to impose the "toughest sanctions in history" against Iran. The rest of Monday's trading calendar was light, with few significant events.

The following days will bring additional economic indicators, culminating in the release of the second-quarter PCE inflation index on Wednesday, considered the Federal Reserve's preferred measure of inflation.
