‘Does JPSC conduct judicial exam too?’ Worried SC asks on CBI probe plea

The Supreme Court issued notices to the Centre, Jharkhand government, and other authorities on Monday, seeking responses to a plea for a CBI or independent investigation into alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Preliminary Competitive Examination 2025. The plea, filed under Article 32 of the Constitution, argues that an impartial probe by the CBI is necessary to ensure fairness and transparency in the examination process.

The investigation would scrutinize the entire examination chain, from question paper preparation to result publication. The petitioner, activist Harisharan Devgan, through advocate Satyam Singh Rajput, has not sought cancellation of the preliminary examination but demands an objective and scientifically verifiable assessment of the alleged irregularities.

The case also raises broader constitutional concerns about the credibility of public recruitment examinations conducted by constitutional authorities.
