Denmark's PM blasts plastic surgeon for his unsolicited offer to 'fix' spot on her nose

Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has responded to a male plastic surgeon who offered to "fix that little spot on your nose," using the unsolicited advice to comment on the persistent scrutiny women in public life face regarding their appearance. Frederiksen, 48, rejected the suggestion, stating in a post on Instagram that she was content with her body and did not require a male plastic surgeon to voice an opinion.

Sharing the message on Instagram, she wrote, "Oh no. I’m happy with my body – I really don’t need a male plastic surgeon to have an opinion about it!" The post came after Frederiksen returned from Ukraine, where she experienced air-raid sirens during the ongoing war. She explained that the message was part of a recurring pattern she has faced for years, with people commenting on her teeth, hair, and nose, and suggesting Botox treatments.

Frederiksen, who has been Denmark's Prime Minister since 2019, emphasized that she was "perfectly fine" with her body as she approached 50 and urged those who wished to contact her to use their time for more significant discussions. "I’ve lost count of how many messages I’ve received over the years about my appearance," she wrote.

"Especially that I have ugly teeth and thin hair. That I have an ugly ‘wart’ on my nose and well-meaning advice to get some Botox." Frederiksen, who has served as the leader of the European Union and a NATO member country, urged those with unsolicited beauty advice to consider something more important. She affirmed that she does not entertain opinions about her beauty and shared a loving thought with those who continue to offer daily opinions on the "perfect imperfections."
