Yesterday marked the August Club Championship at Serena Golf, a local club. The event began with heartfelt thanks to various club members and staff for their support and contributions. Afterwards, the winners of the month were announced. In Category I, Mike Stott took first place with a score of 72, followed by John O’Brien, also with 72.
In Category II, Darren Strugnell and Simon Rowlands each scored 71. In Category III, Jane Wills and Debbie Boelhouwer each scored 68 and 69, respectively. Golf prizes were awarded on the 9th and 16th of August, with the winners being John O’Brien, Colleen Fleming, and David Devereux in Category I, and Colin Fleming, Richard Heaton, and Russ Redfern in Category II.
Category III saw Martin Archer, Jane Knight, and Jane Wills as the top three. Overall, Denis McCormack emerged as the winner of the club championship, with a fantastic score of 43. The event also celebrated Denis's birthday, with everyone joining in for a rendition of "Happy Birthday." Sadly, the club said farewell to two members, Nick and Terry, who were leaving for Thailand. All present wished them well and looked forward to their future endeavors.
