Colorado coach Deion Sanders is set to testify in a trial involving his son, Shilo, on Monday, August 31, just five days before the start of the Colorado team's 2026 season. Deion adamantly refutes the idea that his subpoena will cause any disruption. When asked about the subpoena during an interview with the Associated Press, he said, "When you get it, when you're him, you get sued.

You have off-the-field foolishness that if someone really sat down and explained it to you, you would say, 'You've got to be kidding.' But it is what it is." Deion goes on to comment that virtually every successful person faces lawsuits at some point, acknowledging that people with wealth are often targets for legal action. However, he argues that those who manage their affairs prudently avoid being sued unless the claim is entirely baseless.

It should be noted that Deion is not a defendant in the trial himself; he is merely called upon to provide testimony. Nevertheless, he stands accused of another dispute related to the creation of his "Prime" logo.
