‘CTA intentionally prevented’: PTI alleges negligence over Imran Khan’s hospital visit

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the political party led by former Prime Minister Imran Khan, recently accused state-run hospitals of negligence in the absence of a crucial CT Coronary Angiography (CTA) scan intended for Khan. The CTA was not performed despite cardiologists' warnings of potential cardiac complications due to the 73-year-old Khan's deteriorating health.

PTI central secretary Information Sheikh Waqas Akram stated that the failure to provide the recommended diagnostic test was not a mere administrative error but a "deeply troubling pattern." The Supreme Court had ordered Khan to undergo comprehensive medical examination and treatment at Shifa International Hospital, but authorities transferred him to another facility where the CT angiography was not conducted.

Akram questioned whether the decision was made in advance to prevent the CTA from being conducted, citing the involvement of government medical board and the recommendation of a cardiologist at PIMS. PTI's allegations point towards a potential political motive behind the delay or denial of the necessary medical care for Imran Khan, raising concerns about the integrity of the treatment process.
