Coalition of the Willing to send Ukraine specialized energy equipment

On August 24, the Coalition of the Willing met in Kyiv to discuss providing Ukraine with specialized energy equipment. Leaders anticipated a Russian missile strike campaign coming in the coming winter months. The group issued a joint statement later that day, emphasizing the urgency of offering immediate assistance to Ukraine's energy sector ahead of the winter season.

This assistance would come in the form of the Ukraine Energy Support Fund and the delivery of specialized equipment. Furthermore, the coalition highlighted the importance of maintaining support for Ukraine's economic resilience amidst Russia's ongoing attempts to renew their maritime blockade on Ukraine's ports. In addition to providing energy support, the coalition pledged to intensify pressure on Russia's military-industrial complex, combat sanctions evasion, and target Russia's "shadow fleet."

Since February 2022, joint sanctions measures have deprived Russia's war chest of at least $495 billion. The statement also mentioned that the Coalition would continue preparing the Multinational-Force Ukraine for deployment once a credible cessation of hostilities was established. This deployment would be part of a broader set of politically and legally binding security guarantees to ensure Ukraine's future security and prosperity following a ceasefire.
