CM Punjab Approves Construction of New Dam in Rawalpindi

The Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has given the green light for the development of a new surface water treatment plant and water supply system at Daducha Dam in Rawalpindi. The Housing Department's spokesperson revealed that the project is set to be finished by December 2029. As per the Punjab government's strategy, WASA (Water and Sanitation Agency) will also build a water supply system to facilitate the project.

The primary objective of this new facility is to supply clean drinking water to the inhabitants of Rawalpindi. Officials disclosed that the project will pump 35 million gallons of clean water into the supply line on a daily basis. The estimated total cost of the project stands at Rs36 billion. Officials emphasized that the Daducha Dam project will significantly contribute to enhancing the availability of clean water in Rawalpindi.

Once the dam is completed, WASA will focus on the transmission line and the water supply network. The project's approval is intended to guarantee the provision of clean and safe water for the city's residents. This decision was announced on ProPakistani.
