Class 1 student bitten by snake during tiffin break inside Kolkata school, hospitalised

In a shocking incident on Monday morning, a 6-year-old Class 1 student was bitten by a snake while having tiffin break at a government-run school in Kolkata's Bhowanipore area. The incident occurred around 8.30 am when the child was on the first floor playing during tiffin break. The student is currently admitted at SSKM Medical College and Hospital in stable condition.

School authorities informed that the snake could not be found till noon and they are checking a room on the first floor that usually remains shut, along with thoroughly searching other parts of the school. A hospital source stated that a blood sample has been sent for testing to determine if the snake was venomous. Parents expressed their shock and concern over how the snake managed to enter the school premises, with one suggesting that the recent rains might have contributed to the snake's presence, while another emphasized the need for the school to maintain a clean environment to prevent such incidents.

This unfortunate event follows another recent case where a Class 3 student from a private school in South Kolkata was bitten by a non-venomous snake inside a fourth-floor washroom during school hours.
