Channing Goodwin aiming for breakout after 2025 drop struggles

Ann Arbor, Michigan -- Last season, wide receiver Channing Goodwin, who was a sophomore, earned the nickname "Mr. Reliable" for his ability to catch almost every pass he faced. However, his success in practice did not translate to actual games, as he only started four games before losing his starting position to the then-star wideout Andrew Marsh.

Marsh became the Wolverines' top receiving threat during the 2025 season. Now, Goodwin, who was plagued by drops during the previous year, believes he has matured and is better prepared to make a significant contribution in 2026. He attributes his progress to the game slowing down for him as he gains more experience. Goodwin and his teammates are focusing on improving their catch techniques by engaging in additional practice drills, including jug work, contested catches, and working on various angles.

Goodwin himself has put in extra effort to regain his spot in the depth chart, despite being injured during spring ball. He attributes his resurgence to the team's unity and collective effort, believing that the group can perform well together.
