Ceferin won’t challenge Infantino for FIFA presidency but tells him to quit

FIFA president Gianni Infantino received a "very, very warm welcome" during his visit to a Caribbean youth tournament in the Dominican Republic, despite being asked not to attend by Concacaf president Victor Montagliani. The CFU Under-14 Challenge Series is a FIFA-sponsored event, and Infantino met with member associations to discuss projects, ideas, and expressed views.

The visit came after Infantino's controversial FIFA Forward Enterprise venture was scrapped, leading to increasing pressure for his resignation. Montagliani specifically requested Infantino to reconsider his attendance, fearing the media would focus on the governance crisis instead of the youth competition. Despite the request, Infantino attended and suggested that the ongoing issues should be addressed.

Montagliani, along with other Confederaions such as UEFA and AFC, have vocally opposed Infantino's plan, resulting in several FIFA officials exiting the organization and UEFA threatening a boycott of future World Cups. Nordic federations, including Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands, expressed their loss of confidence in Infantino and called for a comprehensive independent review of FIFA's governance.
