CDA Approves 23 Commercial Building Plans After Reviewing 40 Cases

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) recently approved 23 commercial building plans following a review of 40 cases during four Design Vetting Committee (DVC) meetings. However, eight plans were withdrawn by architects and sponsors due to incomplete documentation and failure to meet requirements before the meetings. Of the 32 cases presented, 23 were approved, while several more were deferred due to incomplete presentations of key elements like parking arrangements.

These deferred cases will be resubmitted once the necessary documentation and design details are completed. Five additional cases were unable to be presented due to the absence of clients or architects. The CDA explained that these approvals aimed to boost investment in Islamabad and streamline business processes while prioritizing public safety.

The DVC will now include owners, architects, and consultants' names in approval letters, with their details displayed at construction sites to allow legal action against those who violate approved designs. The meetings took place on June 4, June 16, July 30, and August 20, 2026. The CDA has formed a committee to study complications in existing building bylaws that have caused delays in case approvals, with recommendations to follow.

The authority is committed to expediting pending cases and has provided multiple channels for citizens to lodge complaints related to DVC matters and other issues.
