Breather for LPG users as eKYC deadline extended to Aug. 31

LPG users in Telangana have been granted an extension of the e-KYC deadline, allowing them until August 31 to complete the process. This relief comes after the August 23 initial deadline, which many households missed. The three major oil marketing companies, Indian Oil, HPCL, and BPCL, have been urging consumers to complete e-KYC, which involves Aadhaar biometric authentication, to continue receiving LPG refills at domestic rates.

As of now, 82% of the 32.97 crore active domestic LPG consumers in the country have already completed the e-KYC. Telangana alone has 1.26 crore such consumers. The extension is expected to further increase this number. Despite the deadline extension, the rate of LPG refill supply to non-compliant customers will depend on further guidance from the Petroleum Ministry, as official communication has not been issued yet.
