Black Queens will qualify for Women’s World Cup – Hasaacas Ladies CEO

Evelyn Nsiah Asare, the Chief Executive Officer of Hasaacas Ladies, remains optimistic that the Black Queens can still qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil, despite not securing automatic qualification through the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The Black Queens were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the WAFCON, losing 2-1 to Malawi, which prevented them from advancing past the semi-final stage.

This marked the first time Ghana had failed to qualify for the World Cup since reaching the global tournament three times previously. The team will now participate in the preliminary phase of the FIFA Women's World Cup Play-Off Tournament, scheduled from November 24 to December 5, 2026. Ghana will begin their campaign against Ecuador on Matchday One, followed by a match against Uzbekistan on Matchday Two, and conclude with a game against Papua New Guinea on Matchday Three.

Nsiah Asare acknowledged the team's changes in training, preparation, and circumstances since the WAFCON, and expressed disappointment at not reaching further in the continental competition. She emphasized that the Black Queens, despite the difficulties, still have a strong chance of qualifying for the World Cup through the play-off route.

Although Ghana would have preferred earlier qualification to avoid the extra financial and logistical burdens, the CEO remains confident that the team will reach Brazil 2027.
