Atiku: ‘Take it easy, no insults’ – ADC knocks presidency

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticized Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, for his remarks regarding ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar. This criticism stems from Atiku's pledge to restore the petrol subsidy if elected president in 2027.

In a statement, ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi emphasized that the issue is not about hurling insults at the opposition, but rather about doing the right thing for the Nigerian people. Atiku had vowed to reinstate the fuel subsidy regime should he secure the presidency in the 2027 elections.

Dare dismissed Atiku's promise as a sign of political opportunism, arguing that it contradicts his position during the 2023 presidential election. He further accused Atiku of hypocrisy, calling his proposal a desperate move that would undoubtedly fail. Dare stated that all citizens of discernment must reject such political innuendo.

In response, ADC spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi urged President Tinubu's adviser, Sunny, to "take it easy, o." Abdullahi criticized those who resort to insults and gaslight Nigerians, highlighting that the opposition had three years to demonstrate the merits of removing the fuel subsidy to the public.
