‘Apollo’ eye infection spreads in Bauchi, assembly speaker affected

A contagious eye infection called "Apollo," also known as conjunctivitis, is spreading in Bauchi State, Nigeria, prompting the State House of Assembly Speaker, Abubakar Suleiman, to take action. In a Facebook post on Sunday, Suleiman revealed that he himself had contracted the infection upon waking up, warning residents to be cautious and take necessary precautions to prevent further transmission.

The Speaker emphasized the importance of maintaining good hygiene and refraining from sharing personal items that could contribute to the spread of the infection. Apollo, a highly contagious eye condition, can be contracted through contact with infected individuals or contaminated surfaces and personal items.
