Amitabh Bachchan recalls being criticised early in his career: ‘You don’t know anything’

Amitabh Bachchan, a veteran of Bollywood, shared anecdotes about his early career struggles during a special edition of Kaun Banega Crorepati 18. The actor recounted being mocked for his height and being asked to leave a film set due to tardiness. When Commonwealth Games 2026 gold medallists Lovlina Borgohain, Jhandu Kumar, Sharmila Dhankar and Asmita Dey inquired about being scolded during training, Bachchan admitted he faced his share of criticism in the beginning.

He recounted, "Humko badi daant padti hain, shuru-shuru mein toh bahut padi thi. 'Tumko kuch aata nahi hai, acting-wacting, tum bahut lambe ho, jaake ghar jaao.' They told me I knew nothing about acting, you are too tall, go back home." The veteran actor also discussed the importance of addressing body image issues, which can be more profound than mere physical appearance.

He explained that these concerns often stem from deeper-rooted beliefs, shaped by childhood experiences, family dynamics, social media, and societal expectations. Kruti Shah, a psychologist at Mpower Helpline, emphasized that the key to overcoming such issues lies in shifting from self-criticism to acceptance and neutrality, acknowledging that one's body is not a source of constant dissatisfaction but a neutral entity to coexist with.
