Americans add three captain’s picks to a Solheim Cup team with only five winners since last cup

U.S. captain Angela Stanford bolstered her Solheim Cup team with three picks on Monday, relying heavily on experience for two selections and adding 35-year-old Lindy Duncan, a 35-year-old whose Solheim Cup debut is historic. Two of Stanford's choices, Megan Khang and Rose Zhang, made two Solheim Cup appearances each, while Zhang won all four of her matches in 2024 without reaching the 17th hole.

Duncan, the oldest American Solheim Cup rookie since Nancy Scranton in 2000, joins Auston Kim, the only other rookie, as the U.S. team ventured to the Netherlands for the first time since 2015, aiming to defeat Europe. The team features Nelly Korda, the top-ranked golfer, but only four players have won on the LPGA since the last Solheim Cup: Lauren Coughlin, Yealimi Noh, Angel Yin, and Jennifer Kupcho.

The U.S. lineup lacks Lexi Thompson, who informed the public in 2024 that she would step away from a full tournament schedule as she anticipates her first child early next year.
