Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri visits Thumbay Medicity in Ajman

The Minister of Economy and Tourism, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, recently visited Thumbay Medicity in Ajman, highlighting the crucial role of healthcare, medical education and health tourism in the UAE's diversified, knowledge-driven economy. Thumbay Medicity, founded by Dr Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Thumbay Group, showcased its comprehensive approach, integrating education, patient care, and research.

Al Marri praised the Thumbay Group for its contribution to the UAE's medical and longevity tourism landscape, noting the institution's role in attracting over 111 countries of students and patients from across the region. The visit included a tour of the Gulf Medical University, the region's leading private medical university, along with Thumbay Medicity's academic hospitals, Thumbay University Hospital, Thumbay Dental Hospital, and Thumbay Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Hospital.

Discussions centered on the private sector's role in enhancing the UAE's medical and wellness tourism industry, the country's emergence as a global hub for health and wellness, and the influence of institutions like Thumbay Medicity in attracting international patients, students, and investment. Dr Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Thumbay Group, expressed pride in the progress made since the establishment of Gulf Medical University in 1998, which now boasts an internationally diverse student body.

The Minister's visit culminated with a tour of Thumbay Medicity's research and innovation facilities, where Al Marri learned about key projects and initiatives, and engaged with faculty, clinicians, and students about their experiences in the university's educational and research environment.
