71-year-old woman killed in Delhi’s Greater Kailash after car hits multiple vehicles

In South Delhi's Greater Kailash area, a 71-year-old woman named Shashi perished following a car accident that involved multiple vehicles on August 23. According to police, the Mahindra XEV 9e driver reportedly collided with several vehicles before striking the pedestrian couple near Kailash Colony Metro Station. Shashi was pronounced dead upon arrival at Moolchand Hospital, while her 65-year-old husband, Kulbhushan, sustained injuries and was later deemed fit to provide a statement.

The accused driver, Tapan Ahir, 59, has been apprehended. He has been working as a driver for the same vehicle owner since 1997 and was reportedly en route to Kailash Colony Market to retrieve his brother at the time of the incident. Police have filed charges against Ahir for rash driving, endangering life or personal safety, and causing death by negligent driving.

The offending vehicle damaged a Mahindra Thar, an auto-rickshaw, and a cycle-rickshaw during the collisions. Forensic experts are examining the driver's blood sample to determine if he was under the influence of alcohol during the accident. Investigators are also collecting statements from witnesses and assessing the damage to the vehicles involved.

Additional investigations are ongoing to uncover the circumstances that led to this tragic accident.
