416 Marriages In A Day: Guruvayoor Temple Creates A Record

In the state of Kerala, marriage is a prevalent occurrence. On the first Sunday of the Malayalam Chingam month, 416 marriages were performed at the revered Guruvayoor Temple in Thrissur district, surpassing the previous record of 334. Guruvayoor Sri Krishna Temple and Sabarimala Ayappa Temple are visited by people from across the nation, but their economic significance is unknown.

It is believed that divine blessings abound at these temples, making the first Sunday of Chingam an auspicious day for weddings. The chief priest at Guruvayoor Temple was overwhelmed as couples waited from 4.10 am to 12.45 pm to seek his blessings for a prosperous union. While Guruvayoor welcomes visitors throughout the Malayalam month, the Chingam 2026 proved to be a remarkable day for love and happiness in Kerala.

Many of the couples at Guruvayoor are either working outside the state or are Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), but they return for the blessings of divine intervention.
