₹38.25 lakh spent on Karnataka CM D.K. Shivakumar’s swearing-in ceremony

A 68-year-old woman in Karnataka named Hoor passed away due to an age-related illness, leaving behind a substantial fortune of over ₹8.4 lakh. The body of Hoor, who lived in a rented home in Mandya, was discovered by locals who were taken aback by the vast collection of currency notes and coins stuffed into sacks within her home.

The woman, who spent her life begging for money, had accumulated the wealth over the years, with notes of ₹10 and ₹20 being the most common denominations. The sheer number of sacks containing the money was estimated to be more than 30, with a total count revealing the impressive sum. Hoor had been staying with her sister in the house, and both were unmarried women.

After her sister's death two years prior, Hoor continued to reside in the house and earned a living through begging. Upon her death, the recovered money was handed over to her two brothers. This discovery follows a similar case in Madhya Pradesh, where a beggar named Mangilal was found to be wealthy despite his beggar's life.
