300,000 Karachi Residents to Get Better Water Supply

Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab recently inaugurated the restored Garden Water Pumping Station, which had been inactive for over two decades. The station, originally set up in 2005, had been unable to function due to a lack of electricity. The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) invested Rs. 30.25 million to rehabilitate the facility, with water service from the site expected to commence immediately.

The repairs encompassed the civil structure, panel room, staff room, and boundary walls. KWSC technicians repaired two 125-horsepower electric motors and installed two new motor control boards. Additionally, PVC and low-tension cables were supplied and installed to facilitate the operation of the station.

The rehabilitated pumping station will provide water through a 24-inch pipeline to various areas, including Nishter Road, Garden, Ghas Mandi, Ghanche Para, Ranchore Line, Ramswami, and neighboring localities. Furthermore, an 18-inch pipeline will supply water to Usmanabad, Badshahi Road, Azeem Plaza, and surrounding neighborhoods.

As a result of the restoration, around 300,000 residents in Karachi will now have access to improved water supply. Additionally, the water distribution in Garden, Soldier Bazaar, Lyari, and nearby regions will also see an enhancement.

Day 55: Kubernetes Sidecar Containers

We have a web server container running the nginx image. The access and error logs generated by the web server are not critical enough to be placed on a persistent volume.

  • Sidecar Containers attach additional functionality to primary containers in Kubernetes.
  • Web server container (nginx-image) serves web pages, while sidecar (ubuntu-image) manages logs.
  • Sidecar runs alongside main container in same Pod using shared emptyDir volume for logs.
