2027: Bashir Ahmad knocks Kwankwaso over APC Presidential Campaign Council

Bashir Ahmad, National Director of Media Monitoring and Rapid Response for the City Boys Movement, has taken issue with NDC vice-presidential candidate Rabi'u Kwankwaso's stance on the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council. Ahmad made this assertion in a recent post on his verified X handle. Ahmad emphasized the importance of scrutinizing government performance and advocating for improved governance.

However, he argued that reducing the 2027 presidential election to a simplistic confrontation between oppressors and the oppressed does not contribute to constructive national discourse. He maintained that the APC campaign council should be evaluated based on its proposed policies, programs, and vision, rather than solely on the political affiliations of its members.

Ahmad also expressed confidence in Abdul'aziz Yari's ability to independently decide on assuming leadership of the council, given Yari's proven experience as a former governor and senior political figure. He suggested that Yari's past experience should be viewed as a valuable asset to the political landscape, rather than being automatically perceived as an endorsement of any prevailing challenges.

Kwankwaso had previously criticized the APC Presidential Campaign Council, asserting that the upcoming 2027 election is a contest between Nigerians who are oppressed and those responsible for their oppression. Ahmad politely disagreed with this characterization, stating that Nigerians are not merely passive victims waiting for political actors to dictate their choices.

He insisted that Nigerians are intelligent citizens who can evaluate the records of past governments, compare alternative options, and make informed decisions about the nation's future direction. Ahmad concluded by urging Nigerians to focus on performance, ideas, and the future of Nigeria during the 2027 election, rather than resorting to inflammatory labels of 'oppressors' and 'oppressed'.
