2027: ADC’s Dino Melaye Heads to Court over Adedeji’s Role in Tinubu’s Campaign

Dino Melaye, a former Kogi West Senator and member of the African Democratic Congress, has announced his intent to take legal action against the appointment of Zacch Adedeji as the Chairman of Nigeria Revenue Service in President Bola Tinubu's 2027 Presidential Campaign Council. In a video shared on his official X account, Melaye raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest due to Adedeji's role as head of the country's revenue agency.

The former senator asserted that Adedeji's position could compromise his impartiality in fundraising activities and expressed disbelief at the unprecedented combination of a presidential candidate serving as his own campaign council chairman. Melaye criticized Tinubu's decision to chair the council, stating it demonstrated a lack of confidence in his party and government members to win the 2027 election and questioned the rationale behind the expansive council structure.

The APC recently disclosed the members of their 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, with Tinubu appointed as chairman, Vice President Kashim Shettima as Vice Chairman I, and Nentawe Yilwatda as Vice Chairman II. Other appointees include Abdulaziz Yari as Director-General and Hope Uzodimma as Secretary. Melaye vowed to pursue legal action on Monday to contest Adedeji's participation in the campaign council, framing his efforts as part of a broader challenge to irregularities within the administration and its campaign structure.
